Still See You Everywhere by Lisa Gardner
Missing persons specialist Frankie Elkin is on an isolated island off the coast of Hawaii.
Her mission: to find Lani, the missing sister of a Death Row serial killer known as the Beautiful Butcher who is awaiting execution in just three weeks’ time.
According to the Beautiful Butcher’s sources, Lani is being held captive by her millionaire ex-boyfriend on the island. The only way to gain access is for Frankie to go undercover.
But can Frankie really trust the word of a serial killer?
Plus, this island is no paradise with deadly creatures and suspicious co-workers at every turn, and an incoming tropical storm about to cut her off from the outside world.
Could this be Frankie Elkin’s most dangerous case yet?
About the author
A self-described research junkie, #1 New York Times bestselling author Lisa Gardner has parlayed her interest in police procedure, criminal minds and twisted plots into a streak of internationally recognized novels. Her 2010 novel, THE NEIGHBOR, won Best Thriller from the International Thriller Writers. Most recently, she was honored with the Silver Bullet Award for her work with at-risk kids and rescue animals.
Lisa's latest series features Frankie Elkin, an everyday average woman who specializes in finding missing people. When the locals have given up, when the media has never bothered to care, Frankie takes on the challenge from finding a disappeared Haitian teen in Mattapan (BEFORE SHE DISAPPEARED), to a vanished hiker in the wilds of Wyoming (ONE STEP TOO FAR), to a possibly kidnapped younger sister of a serial killer on a remote island in the Pacific (STILL SEE YOU EVERYWHERE).
Her other series include the FBI Profilers, Detective D.D. Warren and PI Tessa Leoni. When not writing, Lisa loves to hike, travel the world, and yes, read, read, read!
Review
‘Still See You Everywhere’ is a fast-paced, cracking read that I couldn't put down! Somehow this is the first book by this author that I had read and I loved it! This is the third book in the Frankie Elkin series but it can definitely be read as a standalone, but I will certainly be going back to read the others as I want to know about the tampon plugging a bullet hole! Seriously, I loved Frankie as a character and I can't wait to find out more about her.
Frankie Elkin is an expert at finding missing people, the invisible, those whom society doesn't see as important. We meet her she is travelling on a Greyhound bus to a max prison to meet a convicted serial killer. The Beautiful Butcher is soon to be executed for killing a string of men and then feeding them to her pigs. Her lawyer has asked Frankie to meet with Kaylee as she wants to find her sister before she dies. She wants Frankie to search for and rescue her sister Lealani who was kidnapped at age 5 by an ex-partner of Kaylee, the tech billionaire Sanders McManus. He is currently in the process of building a luxury eco-lodge in the middle of the Pacific Ocean on a tiny atoll, Pomaiki and this is where Frankie is to go undercover and rescue Lealani. Sounds easy right…
I devoured this book in a couple of sittings and loved every minute of it! Do you have to suspend disbelief at certain points, for sure but it makes for a cracking read and a brilliant thriller. What made this book for me was the location and how easily I could visualise it! You really felt as if you could feel the humidity, see those terrifying blue coconut crabs (trust me don't google them!) and feel the camaraderie between the staff on the island! There was a great cast of characters but I loved Trudie and Ann! Frankie was a great protagonist even if she could be a bit stupid at times! She is damaged but trying to make up for it by searching for these missing people.
This book flies at a relentless pace - there are dead bodies, twists and turns, misdirections aplenty and a brilliant finale! There is also a lot of fun and humour in the book which counteracts the at times quite dark material. Overall, it was highly entertaining and I would certainly read more about Frankie and her life!
Let me know if you pick this one up!
