‘The Ultimate Village Game’ is a cosy tale that transports you to the village of Steely Green and Lucy’s tale. I really enjoyed this read and loved reading about Lucy’s life.
Lucy has returned home to the village of Steely Green where she grew up. She works in the local care home and has a heart of gold. She loves her job and will help anyone who asks. But she keeps notes on all the strangers in the village and is riddled with self-doubt. ‘The’ family in the village is the Lesters and Mr Lester Senior has recently died. He used to run the village treasure hunt which is now in doubt and the village is not happy…
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and flew through it in a couple of days. Lucy was an interesting character who grows in confidence as the story progresses. I loved her relationships and treatment of the care home residents and with George and Charlie! I did think there would be more about the village treasure hunt ie it taking place. I liked the intrigue when it kicked with the flashbacks to Lucy’s childhood.
This was a lovely read - let me know if you pick it up.
