Bloody Scotland 2022 - Orenda Books
When Bloody Scotland asked me to be part of the blogtour for this years festival I jumped at the chance! I love this event. I had been looking from afar for many years and finally went for the first time last year. Yes, it was weird with it being in covid times, but I bought a jaunty BS face mask and dove right in. It was sooo much fun and everyone was extremely friendly and the panels were amazing! I can’t wait to return TOMORROW and I am so looking forward to being part of its 10th anniversary.
I decided that on my spot for this tour I was going to do a spotlight on Orenda books as they are constantly publishing some of the best crime fiction books in the industry. Innovative and creative, they are quirky and at times heartbreaking. But I know that when I pick up an Orenda book I will be opening something special. Plus, who couldn’t love Karen - the loveliest and most enthusiastic person in this business!
So let’s dive into which authors are at Bloody Scotland and a few reviews of their books.
First up we have Doug Johnstone on Friday 16th 10.30am at the Albert Halls.
I have recently had the pleasure of reviewing Doug’s latest book ‘Black Hearts’ which is the fourth in his Skelf series. Yes I am a skelfaholic and proud to be one!

Then we have Eve Smith on Friday 16th 12pm at the Tolbooth and her speculative medical thrillers are some of the best I have read!
I loved ‘Off Targe’ and you can see by my review it brought up a lot of personal contemplation but the best books are meant to provoke and make you think!

Finally on Friday we have Helen Fitzgerald at 4.30pm at the Golden Lion.

Helen concentrates on family relationships in ‘Keep Her Sweet’ and I found this book to be hilarious. Not sure what that says about me! Helen books are wide ranging though and there is one scene from ‘Ash Mountain’ that will be permanently seared in my memory.

Will Carver Saturday 17th 16:30pm at the Golden Lion.

What can I say about the genius of this man?! Every book is different and every book I think how did he create this outstanding story. I want to live in his mind as it must be entertaining. Below you will find a review of his latest book which is just as unique as all his others. You wont be sorry if you pick them up.

Our final author of the weekend is Lilja Sigurðardóttir on Sunday 18th September 2.30pm at the Albert Halls.

I loved her first book in her series set in Iceland and the second book ‘Red as Blood’ sounds just as brilliant!
So there we go! If you see me over the weekend please say hello as part of what made this special last year was being able to meet people in person who I had only talked to online before!
Bring on Bloody Scotland 2022!
