Review
‘The Rich’ is an enticing thriller that I devoured in one sitting! Despite Rachel being a prolific crime author with her DI Kelly Porter series I have shockingly never read any of her books, so when I saw that this was a standalone thriller I jumped on it and I was disappointed! This was an intelligent thriller full of smoke and mirrors and was full of tension right up to the final page.
Dr Alex has a flourishing private practice in Cambridge but her own family is full of issues. Her husband is a drunk, her daughter is suffering from an eating disorder, and her younger son is being bullied. When her oldest friend's wife Monika goes missing it seems as if a lot of her clients were associated with her and had reasons to be involved in Monika’s disappearance. Grace is a high-flying banker and is determined that her life seem perfect. Henry is an ex-con who is trying to rebuild his life on the straight and narrow and Grace is a personal trainer/ yoga influencer suffering from deep trauma.
Told from multiple POVs this is a tangled jumble of numerous threads and connections to the missing woman, which makes this a compelling read. I was hooked from the start and although I had the feeling of who the bad guy was from quite early on, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the reveals and the resolutions being teased out by the author.
Let me know if you pick this one up.
