Thanks to @quercus and @netgalley for the #gifted copy of the book.
‘The No-Show’ is Beth O’Leary’s fourth book is a multi-layered romance about three women who are all stood up on Valentine’s day by Joseph. First of all how has one man three women on the go and also managed to arrange three dates on valentines? One is at breakfast with Siobhan, the next in the afternoon with Miranda and finally a party in the evening with Jane. Such a cad!!! But of course with this author not is all it seems.
This is my favourite book of Beth’s after the amazing ‘The Flatshare’ as it has the depth of characters, a tightly plotted narrative full of clues if you were paying enough attention and it’s funny, heartwarming whilst being devastating at times, and creative! Probably the first time I also heard about a female tree surgeon as well - I have always been fascinated by them! As we got towards the end I just had to keep reading - it’s now 2.30am! It really is that twist that hooks you in and I just had to finish it.
I think it’s a testimony to Beth’s writing that although all the actions that were being taken by Joseph would normally result in me hating a character, she definitely manages to make him comes across as a lovely man. That had me conflicted and confused. How could this be?!
Also please can I have that gift at the end of the book?
