Final Verdict by Sally Rigby

Final Verdict by Sally Rigby

The judge has spoken……everyone must die.

When a killer starts murdering lawyers in a prestigious law firm, and every lead takes them to a dead end, Detective Chief Inspector Whitney Walker finds herself grappling for a motive.

What links these deaths, and why use a lethal injection?

Alongside forensic psychologist, Dr Georgina Cavendish, they close in on the killer, while all the time trying to not let their personal lives get in the way of the investigation.

Review

I really enjoyed this book. It was an original take plot wise on a serial killer and it was written with empathy and understanding. The combination of a police detective and a forensic psychologist is always a winning formula and I loved that there were also friends as well as colleagues! This is book 6 in the Cavendish and Walker series but you can certainly pick it up as a stand-alone novel. Background plot mentions are kept to a minimum and you can generally pick up what they are referring to.

Sally manages to keep the tension building at a speedy pace and the conclusion is worth waiting for. I had it vision wise in my head that it was like a law office from Suits and everyone was flouncing around looking beautiful and intelligent! The random things that pop into my head. But the fact that I was able to visualise the plot shows that Sally has the ability to do this with her work. It stirs the imagination! I also really liked the conclusion to this story. It highlights an issue which has been discussed recently and it was great to see this included. I won’t say anymore or it will lead to spoilers!

I really enjoyed the characters of Cavendish and Walker and I feel as it I now want to read the first 5 in the series to get a better understanding of them! I especially want to know what happened with the daughter. I liked how it wasn’t just a professional relationship between them. It allows their personal lives to intersect with I always believe is a good thing for a series.

This is definitely a great series to read and I want to now read them all, but as I said it can be read as a stand-alone book. I encourage you all to give it a go!
