Say No More by Karen Rose

If they ever catch you, say nothing. Admit nothing. Never tell.

Mercy Callahan never thought she'd be able to talk about her past. When she arrives in Sacramento to make peace with her brother Gideon, and to help find the brutal cult that took away her childhood, she is finally ready to talk. But when Ephraim Burton - the man who made her life a living hell - follows her there, she realises she might never be safe.

Rafe Sokolov would do anything to have Mercy back in his life and would go to any length to protect her. But when it becomes apparent that Ephraim is more determined than ever to get Mercy back, even Rafe might not be able to stop the trail of destruction he leaves in his wake. As Ephraim draws near, it's clear it's not just Mercy who is in danger; those closest to her are firmly in his sights.

Will Mercy sacrifice herself to help bring Ephraim down? Or will he finally get what he's always wanted...

Review

This was a belter of a book! I am obsessed with cults and Say No More was packed full of them. This is the second in the Sacramento series but you can totally read it as a stand-alone. Yes there are references to the previous plot but just accept them and move on as it doesn’t infringe on the enjoyment of reading this book! However, I will be reading it at some point as I’m intrigued to see the story from Gideon’s point of view!

First of all this book is a tome, it’s definitely not one you can read in on sitting but saying that I flew through it! It was just so easy to read. It just got its hooks into you and never let go. There was action on every page and the pace just keep going right to the end. Also if you like you love scenes there are some of those as well 😉.

I loved the characters in here and want to be part of the Sokolov family! Mercy was just the right combination of vulnerable and strong. I also loved Abe and Abi-girl - I would totally read their story. The same with Irina and Karl - it would be amazing to read about their experience leaving Russia and settling into America. Basically all the characters are well developed, multifaceted and stand up to being reviewed.

To me this plot revolves around one mans desperation to retrieve Mercy and bring her back to Eden. Every action taken by Ephraim caught him spiralling into a worsening situation. But to counter-balance this you have Mercy who continually finds strength as the story progresses. It was a great juxtaposition.

This is an easy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review for me!
