London 1918: Is Fiona Figg ready to exchange her sleuthing cap for a bridal veil?

When Kitty is found unconscious in the locker room during a high-stakes competition, Fiona must forsake her bouquets and bridal gown to investigate. Her sleuthing leads to a posh lady’s luncheon where a mysterious death crashes Fiona’s wedding plans.
To make matters worse, the arch-nemesis of all things matrimonial Fredrick Fredricks is up to his old tricks, attempting to put the brakes on Fiona’s journey down the aisle. Will he succeed in tripping up Fiona’s wedding vows? Or will she finally say “I don’t” to the charming devil?

Review
‘Poison in Piccadilly’ is a rollercoaster ride of a read! Packed full of twists and turns for Fiona, both mystery and personal-wise, it is a nerve-racking journey. This is the sixth book in the ‘Fiona Figg and Kitty Lane Mysteries’ but you could read it as a standalone, but I would recommend reading the other books as a) it is a brilliant series and b) it is the culmination of a personal aspect of Fiona’s story…or is it??
Fiona Figg is about to get married to Archie Somersby! Whilst she is organizing her wedding, her ‘niece’ Kitty is getting into trouble with her suffragette jujitsu group. When Kitty is found unconscious in the locker room Fiona is determined to find out what has happened. This leads her to a luncheon where someone is killed and Fiona needs figure this out what is happening before someone else is hurt. Life gets even more complicated for Fiona when Fredrick Fredricks gets up to his old tricks of messing around with her feelings for both him and Archie. Will this wedding go off without a hitch??
This was a quick and fun read packed full of action, twist and turns and humour! I flew through it in a couple of sittings and found it to be a compelling read. It was the mystery aspect which I found to be the most interesting but then I love anything to do with suffragettes and the movement. Kelly Oliver is brilliant when it comes to weaving the history through the fictional tale and I alway enjoy reading the historical notes at the end. It’s clear that the history is well researched and the narrative is peppered with rich details that make it a very authentic piece of historical fiction.
Let me know if you pick this one up!
