Gunvor's good friend Aidan also makes his debut as a private detective when he helps a new acquaintance look for her missing friend.
When Gunvor and Aidan take the help of their young friends, Elin and David, the two parallel cases meander closer each other. But how do they relate? And what do the disappearances have in common with the murders that at first glance appear to be hate crimes.
Soon they find themselves in the eye of the storm, not knowing where the danger lurks.

Review.
Luna is a new author to me and I am really glad that I signed up for this tour. ‘Because You’re Mine’ is a Nordic noir take on the themes of obsessions, disloyalty, homophobia, acceptance and family. It definitely kept my attention as I read it whilst having a migraine and it kept the pain at bay for sure! This is the second in the Guvnor series but you can read it as a stand-alone. I haven’t read the first one but I could follow all the threads very easily and past references weren’t too complicated.
Guvnor is a private detective and has a team of helpers in Aidan, Elin and David. She has just returned home from a trip to the Canary Islands to spend time with her partner as she has a new case to work on, that of a missing husband. His wife has hired her to look for him but is reluctant to tell Guvnor details and in fact the missing person informed his father he was going away for two weeks. It looks like a husband having an affair. Randomly, Aidan bumps into a woman looking for her friend whilst in a gay bar. He has been missing for a week and there has been no reply from him which is very unusual. Gradually the two cases begin to merge and then the danger really ramps up….
I think I felt the most connection with Aidan in this book. He felt the most balanced character, which is no surprise really. A teacher and football coach by profession this is his first case as a PI and he isn’t even getting paid to do it. He is just a nice guy who happens to be attracted to the client! Also I really appreciated his loyalty and love for his friends. Maybe I’m growing tired of all the cliches of having to have a dark soul with troubled outlooks in crime books. It just made a nice change to find a person who was relatable.
I enjoyed the story in this one. About the boy who hasn’t grown up. Still partying whilst he has grey hairs and responsibilities. The cold wife. The friend who cares too much. The loyalty that forms between friends and colleagues. I liked the intensity and tension towards the end couple of chapters in the book. It really ramped up and built upon the foundations of the book. I really hope that all the characters who were involved in the end bit are included in further books as there is another one I particularly liked - I can’t say who though as that would be a spoiler.
This series is one that will definitely be staying on my radar.
