The Flight by Heather J. Fitt
A young mother is trapped with a killer thirty thousand feet up, in this gripping mid-air murder mystery by the author of Open Your Eyes.
On a plane to Barbados, nurse Melissa sits with her young son, Theo. On the same flight, up in first class, are a bride- and groom-to-be, heading for their tropical wedding destination, accompanied by family and friends.
When two members of the wedding party die in mysterious circumstances, it becomes clear that a killer is on board. Trapped in the cabin thousands of feet above the Atlantic, tensions mount as accusations fly—and when little Theo seems to vanish into thin air, this bizarre flight becomes even more turbulent . . .
Will Melissa be able to use her medical knowledge to find her son and bring a cold-blooded killer to justice before it’s too late?

Review
‘The Flight’ is a locked-room mystery that takes place in the air! Whilst on a flight to Barbados two members of first-class die it's a race to find out who has committed the crime before they strike again! I loved this book as it was a golden age crime set in the most modern of settings. It was full of twists and turns that keep the reader guessing, super fast-paced, and very gripping!
Melissa and her young son Theo are travelling to Barbados to meet a friend for a well-deserved break. However, when a call is made for someone with medical training once the flight is in the air this turns out to be a nightmare flight. The first-class cabin has been taken over by a wedding party and when one of the party is taken ill Melissa, a nurse decides she has to help out. But when she gets to the person it is clear that the woman has died. Then when another member of the party dies Melissa begins to question what is happening 35,000 feet in the air!
This was such a homage to the Queen of Crime herself, Agatha Christie! What with the locked room mystery, a classic golden age crime trope, the mentions of her books, the use of poisons etc. I loved it!! I'm pretty sure Heather must be a huge fan of AC as this book was a love letter to her in a way. Well, in my eyes it was! You definitely do get an education in murder when you read her books and you get the same when you read a Heather J Fitt book. This was the second book of the authors that I have read and this was by far a lighter book in some respects than ‘Open Your Eyes’ but the writing was slicker, the pace faster and I just loved it. I can't wait to see what she gets up to next!
Let me know if you read this one!
