Review
‘Her White Lie’ was a tension-packed, thrilling rollercoaster of a murder mystery. I enjoyed the dual narratives between the two main characters and the author knew how to ramp up the tension from the start.
Tara is about to get married and emigrate to Australia to start a new life. However, a body is found in a house where she used to live and Tara becomes paranoid that everything is going to get ruined. When the police get in touch to say the dead woman called Tara just before she died, she is shocked as she didn't know Avril at all. Faye and Tara used to be best friends but no longer talk but since they lived together in that house they are thrown back together whilst they work out what is happening!
I found myself liking Tara’s character. All the way through I was like please don't let this be the case of an unreliable narrator as I wanted to like and root for Tara’s story! She just came across as a lovable and lovely person. When her secrets started to get divulged I found myself liking her even more. I remember being asked that question by someone I loved and although it didn't end up happening, I found that the author did an amazing job of portraying the emotions and thought processes behind it all.
I must admit I did work out who the killer was before the big reveal but then I read a lot of crime! However, it was still a thrilling conclusion to the story.
This was a great thriller to pass an evening with - let me know your thoughts if you end up reading it!
